Life Update

Hey lovelies,

Huge apologies for the radio silence – life has been pretty hectic, it’s no excuse but hey I’m only human right?

Some of you know I returned to work over the summer which has been great, then followed summer hols, an then before we knew it,B Boy was back at school and now Christmas is almost round the corner!

So what’s going on these days I hear you cry, well after a long time off searching for a new job, being cut off by HMRC, then finding out they overpaid(don’t even get me started) I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel in an unexpected place….3 months down the line I love it! No really, I’ve had many jobs over the years and whilst my job has taken me to unfamiliar territory, I can honestly say I really am enjoying my life.

One thing I’ve not yet got to grips with is the home life/work balance, but the hubz and little man have been so supportive and I’m trying not to sweat the small stuff, but honestly I’ve no idea how women out there hold down a job, work 40+hrs, be a mum and and wifey and manage the house all at the same time. (and if any of you say get a cleaner.. trust me the thought has already crossed my mind)

So what’s in store for me and blogging, well there’s lot’s of exciting things ahead.  I’m in the process of updating the look and feel of my site, as well as a new laptop to help with my work to, thanks to the wonderful gift from the hubz.

So if you guys can bear with me just a little while longer whilst I promise to be more present over here, but if you can’t wait, just tune in to my Instagram or Facebook channels for more regular updates.

Loves ya

Biting The Bullet

b4 and after

This is me in 2010 and then in 2012, I’d lost just under 3st, I know, you’re all think I’m clearly sitting at a very unflattering angle, but nope I was just that big.  Before you ask, I became a mum, I gave up work for raising my family and well my life went from fast paced and commuting a lot to  coffees and lunches with sleep deprived mums and babies!

I joined slimming world after struggling to shift my weight. In all honesty I was inspired but a friend who’d lost 9 stone (yep a whole person!!) I figured if she could do it why couldn’t I?

So after 10 months of ups and downs I eventually made it.  What now?  Shopping became so much more fun and yet so dangerous as I had options!  As a target member you get to attend your meetings for free as long as you stay 3lb either side of your target weight.  Which believe me is not as easy as it sounds.  Once you reach target, your body has to stabilise with the weight loss so in my first week of losing I lost a further 2lb!! But the following week I was fine.  I kept the weight off and enjoyed my new-found body, I still attended my meetings then after a few months I figured I could do this solo, so my weigh ins changed to once a month, then once every 2 months.  After 2.5 years I noticed the weight started to creep.  So I naturally re joined and felt confident that it was going to be long before I shifted the little weight I’d gained right? WRONG!!  I went to group with a “know it all” attitude, you know the “been there, done that/ I know what I’m doing” attitude which in hindsight was my biggest downfall.

Following a difficult few years health wise, I now find myself at my unhealthiest and have headed in a downward spiral. So it’s safe to say it’s been a rough road but I have the most amazing GP whom whilst is helping with my mental health, he’s now helping me with my general health it’s all a bit Ying and Yang I guess.

On Thursday 31st March,  I took my first steps back into the SW fold and got back on those scales…yep as I suspected it’s going to be a long journey I guess I’ve just got to go for it.  For me! I’ve decided to go in like a new member with no knowledge of SW and hopefully not allow my cockiness to get the better of me.  It’s a big birthday next year and I really want to look and feel good.

Every now and then I’ll post updates, be it food inspo, tips, lessons learnt just to help me get to where I want to be, I reckon writing about my experiences will help me get through it all… cathartic I suppose.

So make sure you tune in to all my channels as I’ll also be snapping my meals etc… I’ll more than likely post weekly to tie in with my weigh in days so keep an eye.

I hope you enjoy this little corner of my mad ramblings and as always I’d love to hear from you too?  Have you joined a slimming club? What’s your journey been like? Have you reached your target or are you heading that way?  Talk to me.

What You Listening To?

I realised it’s been a while since I’ve posted about music that I can’t get enough of, then I realised whilst I’ve been loving so many songs lately – I hadn’t even updated my MP3 Player. I can’t lie it is part laziness and the fact that I’ve suddenly found myself listening to the radio a lot I blame X- Factor and my new fascination with Grimmy (who I think is pretty awesome by the way!)

Anyways let’s talk about what’s got my head bopping!

First up is a very cool, chilled track by Alex Crossan also known as Mura Masa and his offering called “Love for that” Featuring Shura.

Next on my playlist was quite the surprise for me!  I can’t deny that I’m always a sucker for an under dog or fallen angel and I think the latter probably describes my next artist to a T.  The last few months (can’t believe I’m about to say this) I’ve been loving Justin Beiber and fear I’m slowly becoming a Bleiber… Yes I know it’s weird but his recent collaborations have been great and I’ve shaken what mama gave me to a few of his tracks that he has featured on, but the one track that totally had me was “Sorry”  every time I hear it, my body feels the urge to move!  Then I saw the music video featuring New Zealand dance crew ReQuest who are fierce!  I love the video for this track mainly because it kinda reminds me of nights out with my girls…. yes I seriously think we look like  these girls when we’re in the club haha!  For those who know me….just know, for those who don’t I’m always filled with Sass and Badass!!

One last track that probably is my stand out track from Jack Garratt, it really needs no explanation  – just listen and enjoy.

What’s got you buzzin lately?  Share your favourite tracks with me….you know I love music in all forms!
