Pushing Through The WeightLoss Lows

Hey lovelies, So as you know my weightloss came to a halt despite my efforts, well I’m back:

I couldn’t weigh in last week so paid a flying visit to another group on Saturday morning and much to my surprise I was 1lb down, a small loss but a victory nonetheless.

So how did the last week go, I found myself more focus and more happier.  I planned my meals so the food shop was easier and only bought what I needed plus a few healthy treats.

I also found myself posting up pics of my food (yes I’m one of those people!) as more of visual food diary, I found it quiet cathartic and really helped me focus on the day. I also found a wealth of inspiration in other Slimming world slimmers on Instagram by using hashstags like #swfamily #slimmingworldfriends there’s literally loads of different hashtags – go check it out now.

I got to spend time with my beautiful niece for 2 days this week, which whilst was so much fun, it was one hell of a fully body work out hehe! My little nugget is an amazing little girl, but boy is she fast!

So what have I eaten this week? Well I’ve treated myself to Bacon and Tomato butties for breakfast, with yoghurts and fruits as snacks.

I  tried out Duck L’orange from the Mediterranean cookbook, which was so lovely I can’t even tell you!  I also rekindle my love for Galia and cantaloupe melons, served up with some delish meats like Serrano – yum!

Lunches have been leftovers and salads, and meals have been a mixture of pastas, noodles, vegetable salads and omelettes! I should add I did make a beautiful Thai red curry packed with spinach, peppers and aubergine, which felt like such a treat.  Oh and so did the 3 large glasses of wine I had last night – what can I say, It’s been a long week!

So this brings us to today’s weigh in  – For once I didn’t check my scales and much to my surprise…. I lost 2lb it looks like I’m over the slump!

I’m feeling super positive and am just going to keep going and hope that the weight loss continues.

So the next week will be really interesting as I start a new job, so my routine will change but I’m going to stick to the plan and go to work prepared for success and I’m definately going to be using the slow cooker heaps this week too!

Wish me luck lovelies!

A Feast For The Senses

So this week, I’ve tried, tasted, smelt and heard new things, which I thought I’d share with you all :

Touch – Flora No 1 Fine Radiance Oil by Mitchell and Peach

My night-time skincare staple has to be a good face oil.  I have combination oily skin and the best way to keep the shine under control is to combat it with oil.  I’ve always opted for an oil as opposed to a night cream as well, it just feels nicer on my skin, when I wake up I don’t feel so greasy and well they smell amazing.

I’ve tried a few oils now and still only have 2 stand out products (which I’ll pop up on a new post very soon) but I’m pleased to say I’ve found a 3rd and it’s a must have lovelies.

Mitchell & Peach Fine Radiance Oil  is a wonderful little bottle of magic.  A super lightweight oil which absorbs into your skin almost immediately, leaving you with soft supple skin when you wake up! Delicately scented which leaves you calm and relaxed ready for a perfect nights sleep.

I received a sample in my You Beauty box some months back, but never got round to using it until now and it was worth the wait.  The Mitchell’s have been farming land for 5 generations, today keeping with their roots they have created a wonderful brand of  gorgeous body and bath products.

Taste – Ham, Egg and Cheese Pastries

I decided it was time to ditch the mundane breakfast and try a few new things out in the kitchen – Enter Joe Wicks AKA The Body Coach, if you haven’t heard of him and his #Leanin15 and #guilty catchphrases then where have you been?

As you know I loves me a bit of Instagram and Joe has pretty much built a cult following through the use of insta, so I decided to give one of his quickie breakfasts a whirl.

So here’s The Body Coach….

Et voila here’s my first attempt…

I served mine up on a bed of spinach and WOW, this was so delicious.  I was concerned with the use of feta and parmesan but once cooked, the taste was so subtle.  I went with Serrano ham but you could go with whatever you like really.  So that was me getting my cook on!  Have you tried any of Joe’s recipes before ? I know the Avocado and eggs has proven to be a popular favourite.

Smell – Floral Bloom by Next

Whilst out on my many visits to Next to check out new seasonal arrivals I was kindly given a sample of Floral Bloom a light scent perfect for sunny spring days.  As you know I’m a sucker for a good scent and high street brands are (excuse the pun) not to be sniffed at!  Next is a perfect example of how to get it right without smelling like a teenager from the 90’s.

So Floral Bloom is described as Fresh & Floral, which I can agree I find the Waterlily and Narcissus definitely come through the strongest on my whilst the neroli and papaya flower give it the light delicate fragrance.  If you’re passing Next anytime soon, I highly recommend checking out their fragrance section.

Sight – Tarte Cosmetics

It’s not like I don’t have enough palettes in my life but I’m seriously obsessing over Tarte Cosmetics, Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette.  The shadows are so rich and pigmented every time I go to the site of browse their insta page I’m immediately drawn in, especially with shades like  “Fashionista” and “Bombshell”

Sound – Anne-Marie – Do It Right

No words…just watch and listen xoxo

Well that’s your lot for today!  What did you think?  Anything new you’ve tried this week?  Let me know I’d love to hear any recommendations.

Until next time lovelies.

Always Be Yourself…Unless You Can Be a Mermaid!

Today I feel like sharing my love for mermaids and all things shimmery and mermaid-y!  As a massive Hans Christian Andersen fan and lover of mythology and all things nautical I thought I’d share.

I’ve featured a few of my favourite brands including the oh so cool and fun and fellow North Londoner Dark Jinx.  I should also mention she is my sister and  am very proud to see that she is making waves in the fashion industry with her edgy and unique designs.

D founder of Dark Jinx, perfectly combines her love for urban and more alternative cultures, yet making them versatile and translatable to current trends and mainstream pop culture, make the perfect accessory to help complete your outfit.  I have a dragon which is one of her earlier designs – think Game of Thrones!! I also love my mint curb chain (which let’s face it is a seasonal must-have!) and am waiting on my “The Shade of it all” necklace…well sometimes you have throw a little shade to the day!

I discovered was Bundy & Webster at an event I attended in support of my sister when she was launching her brand and instantly fell in love with their gorgeous, effortless style and designs.  You may have seen over on my Instagram,  shots of me in my favourite animal print sweatshirt and Tee dress, both from the girls at Bundy & Webster.

They have recently launched the Spring collection, which have a seaside feel with  their cute and quirky designs including an ice cream tee and sassy slogans like “Saucy” and “Lick Me”  My personal favourite has to be the sequinned sleeve “Mermaids” sweater.  The sleeves covered in sequins giving you just the right amount of sparkle for the day, giving you a fantastic sports luxe look and feel.

So don’t leave it for that fancy dress party, embrace your inner mermaid and start shimmering!
