The #nextTake12 Challenge

So  this week, I was lucky enough to attend Next Bloggers Network Event, the 2nd since their launch.  I will be posting about my day out, but what I learnt was that they are an extremely proactive group, and also very involved with their community as I saw at the blogger awards.

Having discovered all of the above, I’ve committed myself to be more involved in the community and take part in the mini challenges – plus it makes fun content which I always love creating.  So whilst on my journey home from the event I decided to see what I could participate in and discovered they had already launched their #nextTake12 challenge, which was a great reminder of how Next completely understand the need for late night shopping and decisions made in the small hours!

After trying to finalise an outfit for the blogger event on Tuesday, I decided at 10pm Sunday evening that I just had to have a new pair of shoes which as it turned out was from the kids section and bonus if I opened my account that day I got £10 off my order – it was a win-win situation!

So there’s proof that Next completely understand the nocturnal shopper like myself (I’ve always said that my best ideas come at night) I ordered late night and picked them up Monday evening!

To celebrate Next’s fabulous ordering process, which in case you hadn’t heard if you order by Midnight, you order will be delivered in store the next day.  They send you an email AND a text to let you know when it’s in store.  If you’re anything like me and worry about what to wear at the 11th hour, then this fantastic service is for you and most definitely rivals many other high street brands!

So with only 12 to choose from the New In line, I decided to go with gift ideas for my family!

Many of you know that I’ve become an aunt for the first time this year so jumped at the chance at picking out a pretty dress for my gorgeous niece and something cool for my little man.

So here goes….

#nextTake12

What have been you’re favourite’s from Next?  Are you a night shopper like me?  let me know.

Always Be Yourself…Unless You Can Be a Mermaid!

Today I feel like sharing my love for mermaids and all things shimmery and mermaid-y!  As a massive Hans Christian Andersen fan and lover of mythology and all things nautical I thought I’d share.

I’ve featured a few of my favourite brands including the oh so cool and fun and fellow North Londoner Dark Jinx.  I should also mention she is my sister and  am very proud to see that she is making waves in the fashion industry with her edgy and unique designs.

D founder of Dark Jinx, perfectly combines her love for urban and more alternative cultures, yet making them versatile and translatable to current trends and mainstream pop culture, make the perfect accessory to help complete your outfit.  I have a dragon which is one of her earlier designs – think Game of Thrones!! I also love my mint curb chain (which let’s face it is a seasonal must-have!) and am waiting on my “The Shade of it all” necklace…well sometimes you have throw a little shade to the day!

I discovered was Bundy & Webster at an event I attended in support of my sister when she was launching her brand and instantly fell in love with their gorgeous, effortless style and designs.  You may have seen over on my Instagram,  shots of me in my favourite animal print sweatshirt and Tee dress, both from the girls at Bundy & Webster.

They have recently launched the Spring collection, which have a seaside feel with  their cute and quirky designs including an ice cream tee and sassy slogans like “Saucy” and “Lick Me”  My personal favourite has to be the sequinned sleeve “Mermaids” sweater.  The sleeves covered in sequins giving you just the right amount of sparkle for the day, giving you a fantastic sports luxe look and feel.

So don’t leave it for that fancy dress party, embrace your inner mermaid and start shimmering!

10 Reasons to Shop with Stella & Dot this Weekend

Starting today Stella & Dot have a great offer running for a short time only.  Simply spend £40 and you can get your hands on the cute Capri Pouch for just £9.95 (Normally £30)

The offer is valid from Friday 13th February and ends 10pm on Tuesday 17th February. I’ve highlighted a few of my personal favourites from the line all under £40, I won’t go too into detail but will highlight.

Ear cuffs are making a comeback this year another massive trend is the ear jacket, a wonderful alternative to the drop or hoop earring, allowing for style and versatility! Enter the Crescent Ear Jackets,  4 fantastic looks with interchangeable studs and the gorgeous stoned jacket that sit just under the lobe, giving you a stunning, edgy look.  Stella & Dot released a few different Jackets in the SS15 collection but the Crescents by far were favourite.

Tennis Bracelets, have been a firm must have for the last £30 years.  Ok so we can’t all own a full diamond one, but we’ll definitely take the next best thing.  Stella & Dot have delivered this in the form of the Alice Bracelet.  A simple and stunning piece of jewellery which looks great worn alone or with your favourite stack.

The Grace Earrings and Cuff have been a surprising favourite of mine.  They have been my go-to pieces recently and I always get compliments for the earrings!

I’m a sucker for back stories and these have a great one.  I’ve since learnt that Chief Design Officer Blythe Harris is related to the legendary Grace Kelly and spent many summers with her.  Another beautiful fact I learnt when I was at Directors Retreat earlier this month was that Grace love to press leaves and the design for Grace set was taken from the delicate leaves Blythe found in North Carolina.

With half of the collection under £40, you really are spoilt for choice and the Capri Pouch is just great.  I have one and it’s great for when I have meetings with my team or a prospective client. I can fit my tablet in perfectly as well as a lippy and my cash.  I’ve seen some of my hostesses and their guests purchase for their teenage daughters as gifts.  Carry your essentials and team up with your favourite Jeans and Tee, for when you’re off out to meet the girls!

So there you have it, just a few ideas as to what to shop if you’re thinking about taking advantage of this great offer.  Retail therapy is the perfect way to kick off the weekend – Well at least I think so!  After a week of decorating B- Boy’s room, I for one will be enjoying putting my feet up with a glass of wine.  I also have to do some research for a new outfit for a fashion week event coming up oh so soon..Eek!

Whatever you’re doing, have a great one lovelies!

Bohemian Vixen – Peace, Love and Amazing Accessories

I was introduced to Bohemian Vixen through Bloggers Love Hub.  Straight away I knew this was a brand I was going to love.  The name alone resonates with me and my loves in life!

The Sonny Skull bangle immediately caught my eye and most of you know I’m a sucker for skulls, so I was excited to hear from founder and designer Samantha Bell with news that one of these beauties was heading my way.

Based in Belfast, Sam designs and hand makes each piece, her collection is made up of upcycled vintage discoveries and semi precious stones.  She designs for both men and women giving versatility in many pieces.

Her passion for jewellery came from a very young age , playing in her grandmothers jewellery box.  In 2010 she began making her own jewellery and is inspired by life, her kids and Ibiza where she confesses are always in her heart and mind.

When my bangle arrived I was pleasantly surprised. Presentation is everything to me and Bohemian Vixen didn’t disappoint.  My bangle came in a gorgeous linen pouch with the beautiful B.V logo.

Bohemian Vixen – Sonny Bangle

Inside and carefully wrapped was my bangle.  It was better than I’d expected.  The bangle was beautiful, the skulls on point and detailed. It’s solid bangle, sturdy, well made – The skulls were weighty too! Overall verdict absolutely gorgeous.

Let’s talk about….Steam Punk!

It’s a trend that’s kinda always been here and so yet so many people don’t even realise what big fans of it they actually are.

Popular culture has been dipping in and out of this trend for many years now.  Doctor Who, which I’m a massive fan of, often uses Steam punk whether it’s the Doc himself rocking a great suit or whether it’s one of the many alternate dimensions he visits, you can steam punk has a great way of seeping through the cracks!

So what is it?  By definition it’s a sub-genre of sci-fi and fantasy with a post apocalyptic backdrop based on western industrialisation.  So think Victorian with badass style, cogs, clocks and corsets and steam power!

But it doesn’t always have to be a literal take of this great genre.  You will often see Steam punk inspired fashion on the catwalks and how it’s translated down the way to the high street is always very effective.

Now as much as I’d love to bust out a corset, long dress and floss with my frilly brolly on the school run, I’d much rather go subtle like a nice piece of jewellery or accessory!

Enter Emily Halton of Steam Chains.  I met Emily at a bloggers event in London earlier this month.

Now most of you know I’m quite the magpie and absolutely love my jewellery and accessories, so when I the lights at Mahiki shone over Emily’s display of her beautiful pieces, I was immediately drawn!

I got talking with Emily and learnt more about her business.  Steamchain products are not just your run of the mill take on the steam punk trend.  Emily upcycles and is always on the look out for different chains, trinkets and pieces that she can experiment with.    She also takes on custom orders so if you have any broken jewellery that you just can’t part with, I’d definitely think about contacting Emily and share your thoughts on what you like.  Working together with you she can come up with the perfect keepsake.

Emily has taken the essence of steam punk and put her personal stamp on her jewellery.  I’m obsessed with cogs and clocks and what better way to combine a very cool trend than in your jewellery.

Her prices are very reasonable and start from £35 for non personalised pieces, many great examples of her work can be found on her website.
Thank you Emily for my gorgeous bracelet.

I had my eye on so many pieces, but of course I couldn’t possibly buy it all (could I??) One little piece that did speak to me was this cute bracelet.  I fell in love with the stone and upon closer inspection it had the cutest little cog on it.

Me & Emily at Bloggers Love Hub

Are you a fan of Steam punk?  How do you incorporate your favourite trends into your every day wear?

I’d love to hear from you.

Tis The Season To Sparkle – Pt.II

So you’ve all had a chance to catch up with my previous post on the new winter collection, which highlighted what’s new and noted a few of my favourites.
This week I wanted to share with you some pieces that I believe will be hot on the Christmas Wishlist. (note these are in no particular order)

Gorgeous Matte Black finish.  This season’s must-have accessory!

Each bangle with it’s own meaning and special words engraved.  The perfect gift for someone special.
Create your own arm party with the new inspiration bangles.
The perfect stocking filler.  Comes in 3 styles, horseshoe, elephant and arrow in cute little packaging with a sweet note.
These little gems are simply genius, a pair of studs you can wear either way.  One side is covered in beautiful stones to give you the extra sparkle you need.  Whilst the other has a polished metal shine to add a touch of class.  Either way they are one of my favourites (available in Silver and Gold)
We all love to make a statement and what better time than during the party season! Stella & Dot are so creative (Thanks to Blythe Harris & her fabulous team) and with each collection they come up with new amazing designs which always have a great twist on how to make a statement.  For example the Sutton necklace, famous for it’s style and versatility (wear it 5 ways!!) had a new addition this season – Gold. Unlike its stoned and mixed metal brothers and sisters the Gold Sutton has a matte finish and the detachable part of the necklace was encrusted in the prettiest blue set stones.
If that wasn’t enough the winter collection saw the launch of the Eye Candy necklaces (available in pink and green).  Whilst they look lovely enough on their own.  The Eye Candy looks HOT when teamed up with the likes of the Sutton (below centre) or layered.
The Pegasus (right) by far is the queen of statements.  Whether in burnt gold or the gorgeous silver it’s a show stopper.  Many have tried to imitate but they can never duplicate.  The craftsmanship is second to none and compliments any outfit.
L-R Casablanca necklace, Gold Sutton with Eye Candy necklace and Pegasus in silver.
The ideal gift for anyone!  Stylish, gorgeous designs with a luxe feel.
Union Square Scarves have been a firm favourite for 2014
What good is an accessories line if you’ve got nothing to put them in?  Stella & Dot have it covered! From cute little poufs which make great little make up bags to Ipad pouches and covers and of course let’s not forget the all important jewellery rolls for those days away.
So there you have it, these are just a few of my top picks.  I’d love to say more but then I may as well send you a look book(which I’m absolutely happy to of course!).  For more great gift ideas from Stella & Dot check out my  Pinterest board
