August Favourites

Is it really  September? I just don’t know where the days are going!  This post was originally meant to be a mid month favourites but with the summer holidays and a well earned trip abroad time just flew by and sadly this one got left in the draft file…my bad!

So – here we are a new month and a new season (though it’s more of an Indian summer in the south of the UK) I give you a few of my favourite finds from last month.

Tortz

Summer – whilst I always welcome it with open arms and sleeveless tops, but my thighs weep! I have absolutely bundles of maxi dresses and summer wear but in all honesty I dread it, god gave me curves and with that comes thick thighs..ok so my heritage is mainly to blame for that one what can I say it’s a blessing and a curse!

Like so many the cycle shorts(or similar) and talc were a staple  prevent the “chub rub”.  For me I’ve normally stuck to harem pants or jeans and vest but when the occasion required the dresses and glad rags were needed.   Despite dresses and skirts being easy and breezy, they also came with their fair share of thigh sized problems.  That was until I found Tortz, the tights/shorts hybrid was the answer to my prayers.

These pretty undergarms are perfect for those hot summer days, light enough as their sheer and comfortable too.  The lace trim is so pretty and gives it a little sassy edge.  It also has a silicone trim on the underside to keep them securely in place.

I picked up a pair from their eBay store and couldn’t wait to to take these babies out for a test run.  They slip on well however if you have long nails (or talons like what I had at the time) be careful as you can like me stick a big hole in the lace trim (my bad) sizing is pretty good too.  Though I would recommend for my curvier sisters to go a size up for added comfort.

Priced from £8.50 they’re an absolute steal plus there’s no fears of coming home and reaching to stick the bag of peas between your thighs lol

Dames & Dimes

I stumbled upon  Dames & Dimes on Instagram one evening,   The cute branding had me aesthetically! Their posts were interesting, appealing and full of wit.  One evening I had a lovely chat with them online following on from a post on their foot cream.  I’ve always taken care of my feetsies’ but since the dreaded sprain back in March I’ve been living in trainers, whilst comfy as hell, the wear has played havoc with my feet. I noticed they were very dry and despite my sticking to  regular footcare routine the dryness hadn’t changed.  So after some great advice and a little banter I decided to give these guys a whirl.

When my order arrived I was so excited as I’d heard so much about the foot cream – the smell alone was reason enough  to buy.

How beautiful is the packaging?

Gorgeous packaging and lovely note of thanks

The Soothing + Restoring Intensive Foot Butter, is a rich cream which you lather on your feet before bed pop on some cotton socks and let the foot doctor do it’s magic.

Texture is more like a whipped mousse, which melts into an oil base rich with moisture. Made up of Mango butter and organic cocoa butter, it smells so edible with the addition of the peppermint oil it almost reminds me of a delicious milkshake (or frappuccino of sorts) either way it smells good enough to eat (though not recommended of course)

I’ve been using this now for a few weeks, and it’s worked wonders for my feet, they’ve been restored back to beauty and ready for holiday!

What I love most is that it’s 100% natural and handmade, so a lot of love and labour has gone into creating such a fab product.

The foot butter comes in at £9.95 for a 80g pot which will last you absolutely ages. I know the idea of popping on socks when you go to bed isn’t ideal in the heat but trust me you’ll want to make sure you put on a light cotton pair otherwise the oils will just soak up into your sheets – so you’ve been warned lovelies. But remember in the morning you wake up to super soft and nourished feet!

I also received a pot of the Energizing + Rejuvinating Sea Salt Body Scrub which I’ve tried and absolutely love and was a treat for my body whilst I was on holiday last week, it kept my skin super soft.  I always go for either citrus or sweet, and the scrub is packs a lime punch (think mojito for your skin) the scrub is made up of Epsom salts, sea salts and Dead Sea salts so you’re guaranteed you’ll be saying farewell to those dry skin cells!

Available online to order I give Dames & Dimes a massive thumbs up! I’ve just ordered myself the Nail & Cuticle balm – I’ve heard such great things and based on what I’ve tried, I know I’m in for a treat, look out for more fab reviews from a firm fave brand of mine!  In the meantime head over to their website to check out more from their range

Right Guard Shower Oil

So this was a surprise product for me as it just happened to be on my weekly shopping list, but Right Guard Shower+Oil is just fantastic and a winner for me this summer.

I picked up this bottle of happiness after having a disappointing experience with an in shower moisturiser.  So I was keen to try this gem, I think the scent and ingredients pretty much sold it to me (not to mention it was only £1.00 at the time)

Consistency is much like a shower gel but not as thick or gloopy, it lathers up well and feels smooth and silky on the skin.  Enriched with Argan, Marula and Almond oil, you just know you’re not only going to feel amazing but smell fab too thanks to the Monoi Blossom.

Post shower, my skin feels wonderfully moisturised, soft and supple, but for how long?  I road tested without further moisturiser and went on a day trip with son, by the time I came home and changed into PJ’s (yes that early) my legs were still soft and smooth, no dry patches at all.

Labelled as for dull skin, I’d agree and also just say if you love shower oils without the dangers of slipping in the shower (yep done that too!) then go for it.  It’s a great treat, and smells like holiday (if it had a scent)

I also found this great for shaving your legs, whilst the conditioner life hack was a god send, this shower oil works a treat, plus you can lather in the remainder once you’ve de-fuzzed.

Right Guard Shower +Oil is a great time saver especially if you’re in a rush or always have the intention to moisturise but forget!  It’s effective and won’t break the bank, I love this shower oil  and have since learnt that Right Guard also have other oils in this range which means I’ll be heading to the store very soon.  and will probably be sticking to this for a little longer.

Do you have a favourite shower product that you always pick up at the store? Or perhaps you enjoy the two step approach of wash then moisturise?  I’d love to hear your recommendations and thoughts.

Til next time lovelies.

Summer Style with JD Williams

English summers, like me can be very temperamental, one moment its torrential rain next minute it’s a heat wave and it between we have beautiful summer days, where the mornings start fresh filled with sunshine with the rest of the day just glorious.  It’s days like these that are perfect for a garden party, barbecue or Al fresco dining, perhaps a wedding to attend.  Then you realise you have nothing to wear or it’s time to refresh your wardrobe, but to wear and where to go?

My favourite method of shopping is online. There is an abundance of stores with next day delivery and simple returns processes – the choice is endless.

For this post I’m going to focus on JD Williams.  I hadn’t heard of them until the adverts with Lorraine Kelly started popping up on telly. In all honesty my perception of the brand was it was for the more mature lady – How wrong was I?

I soon discovered that there was more to the brand then I had perceived.  They offer clothing and so much more for all shapes and sizes. I was kindly sent a dress from JD Williams from their current collection.  I was sent a White Multi Print Dipped Hem Maxi Dress.  It’s a pretty white floaty dress, perfect all occasions. Normally I would have posted a photo of me wearing, I’m sorry to say the dress didn’t look as well had hoped, it was most definitely me than the dress.  I can’t lie I was pretty gutted as the dress is so pretty.  So instead, I decided to create a style board with the same dress

Garden Party

Garden Party by stylemebynaddyj featuring platform sandals Hi low dress / Platform sandals / Diamond jewelry / Crescent Ear Jacket

The dress is perfect for all sorts of occasions.  Discovering JD Williams, gave me an opportunity to look at other products on their site which I’ve used to accessorise the dress. What I love is the light layers of the dress which allow you to breathe in it especially in the more hotter days. I also love the flattering asymmetrical cut on the dress which cinches in the right spots to show off your curves.
The colours are well paired, however I found the yellow a little too acidic for my skin tone so didn’t really do the dress any justice.  I would recommend the dress for someone of a fairer skin tone. Accessory -wise, you could carry a pretty raffia tote or pair with a cute and bold clutch for the evening.
The dress retails at £25  and JD Williams are  currently offering 20% off and FREE delivery. Whilst I wasn’t able to showcase the dress on myself I will most definitely be making future purchases and will be sure to share them with you.
Have you purchased anything from JD Williams?  How would you have styled the dress?  I’d love to hear from you.
Miss Naddy

Happy 2nd Birthday Make Up Revolution!

For me Thursday is the new Friday and this week was no exception. On 10th March  I attended Make Up Revolutions 2nd birthday party, and it was AMAZING!

I’ve been a massive fan of the brand since the beginning and with new products launching almost weekly what’s not to love? They’re have great products starting from £1 (yes I said £1) and they’re giving premium brands a run for their money with their gorgeous palettes, packaging, variety in products and with a cult following and heaps of involvement within the blogging community, it’s difficult to ignore the  successes of such a wonderful brand.

London was the city and Cafe de Paris was our backdrop for the party. We were given the VIP treatment from the outset, photographers, videographers, welcome drinks, we knew we were in for a good time.

The famous Cafe de Paris sign

We kicked off with an afternoon tea themed drop in session, it was a great opportunity to meet the the make up revolution family and all the brands (Freedom, colourless, I ♡ Make Up)

The tables were filled with all our favourite products across the brands, it was also good to see a few products which I’ve had my eye on and obviously they didn’t disappoint, so of course I’ll be shopping this weekend!

MKRVLT Rose gold

The coveted Rose Gold Lipsticks. We’re all waiting for Chauffeur to be back in stock.

I heart makeup chocolates

Death by Chocolate or Make Up Heaven, either way these chocolate palettes are to die for!

FREEDOM table

Freedom Make Up London-That Pro Artist Pad tho….

So whilst drooling at all the make up we also got to hear about some future products launching this year which was very exciting.  The good news is I can share deets with you all – Are you ready?

Make Up Revolution have teamed up with British Beauty Blogger to create  “The Fortune Favours The Bold” Palette presented in a gorgeous brushed gold tin.  We weren’t given an official launch date but it will be later on this month.

The week commencing  March 21st will see the launch of the newest addition to the I ♡ Chocolate range “Chocolate Vice” luxurious golds and rich reds and pinks galore perfect to help get you ready for summer.

We also got to see a new hair care range which were so cleverly packaged as milk cartons and smoothie drinks which looked fab. The main focus was taming and smoothing hair which I’m looking forward to trying out as a sister blessed with curly hair, no one wants to see my “woke up like this” look.

There was also a hair colour range which looked great and will appeal to many with baby pinks, blues and turquoise still going strong.  The hair range will be launching in June 2016 so just in time for festival season.

Superdrug also had  products from their B. range out on display, which included Micellar water and a micellar oil which I’ve not yet tried.  They also had body butters and scrubs which all looked really nice.  But what really caught our eye were these emojji lip balms, the cuteness of these little pots were just too much!

superdrug

Which emojji would you go for?

After checking out all the brands and products we had time to ourselves to connect with other bloggers, talk to the brands and grab a drink, I attended the event with fellow blogger Flo of Love From, Florence Grace who is always great company. We discovered the GIF creating station hosted by GIFGIF and well you’ll see the evidence of our handy work…

As the evening started to set in, we were spoilt with cocktails and canapés(which were aptly named after some of the palettes) finally the big screen came down and Adam Minto, founder and CEO of Make Up Revolution took to the stage. Using his charm and wit Adam delivered a heart-warming speech sharing is pride and passion for the company, giving thanks for the support from global partners to Superdrug and of course the blogger/social network.

Adam describes Revolution as disruptive, exciting, most of all affordable. As a natural born rebel, I’m always for creating a little chaos, so the idea these guys creating a little havoc within the world of cosmetics just makes me love them even more.

Make up should not be elitist. Should not be based on your ability or you willingness to pay more!
Adam Minto – CEO Make Up Revolution

Writer and Vlogger Daisie Smith  who works closely with TAM Beauty, then took to the stage to announce the amazing competition #IAMFREEDOM competition which launches in April and set to be the biggest beauty competition of the year!  30 individuals will compete through 3 challenges to earn a place at the live final which will be held in September.  Four runners up will win £1000 whilst the one lucky winner of first place will win £10000 (yep TEN THOUSAND!!) a years supply of Freedom products and a 1 year partnership with the brand.

As Adam was reiterating the details, Superdrug shouted off stage and announced that they would match all the prizes – OMG!!!

After that fantastic announcement I think everyone was truly ready to party, another surprise for us was a guest DJ who turned out to be none other Scott Mills, we managed to get a snap with him which was pretty cool! The tunes kept on coming, and for those who know me, I love to dance so there was no stopping me hehe

My night came to an end around 1130 and as a final thanks we were given a bag of goodies. Which was filled so much amazing stuff.  Between Make Up Revolution and Superdrug their kindness and generosity was overwhelming, included were products from Make Up Revolution, Freedom and Superdrug.

I saved this one for last as I’d already had it on my lust list and almost picked it up last week.  In our goodie bag also contained the Black Arts Pro Artist Pad by Freedom.

So there you have it lovelies, the drink, the music and the make up!  I need to give a few shout outs to Flo and Julia for being the best company! Of course I can’t forget the girl gang I hung out with dancing all night like no ones watching, Kirstie, Orla, Tania, Leah, Hollee (and mum) and of course a massive thank you to Adam Minto and the TAM family for the invitation to help celebrate your success and for your hospitality and for the revolution!  Keep on making noise lovelies….

Happy Birthday Make Up Revolution!

The #nextTake12 Challenge

So  this week, I was lucky enough to attend Next Bloggers Network Event, the 2nd since their launch.  I will be posting about my day out, but what I learnt was that they are an extremely proactive group, and also very involved with their community as I saw at the blogger awards.

Having discovered all of the above, I’ve committed myself to be more involved in the community and take part in the mini challenges – plus it makes fun content which I always love creating.  So whilst on my journey home from the event I decided to see what I could participate in and discovered they had already launched their #nextTake12 challenge, which was a great reminder of how Next completely understand the need for late night shopping and decisions made in the small hours!

After trying to finalise an outfit for the blogger event on Tuesday, I decided at 10pm Sunday evening that I just had to have a new pair of shoes which as it turned out was from the kids section and bonus if I opened my account that day I got £10 off my order – it was a win-win situation!

So there’s proof that Next completely understand the nocturnal shopper like myself (I’ve always said that my best ideas come at night) I ordered late night and picked them up Monday evening!

To celebrate Next’s fabulous ordering process, which in case you hadn’t heard if you order by Midnight, you order will be delivered in store the next day.  They send you an email AND a text to let you know when it’s in store.  If you’re anything like me and worry about what to wear at the 11th hour, then this fantastic service is for you and most definitely rivals many other high street brands!

So with only 12 to choose from the New In line, I decided to go with gift ideas for my family!

Many of you know that I’ve become an aunt for the first time this year so jumped at the chance at picking out a pretty dress for my gorgeous niece and something cool for my little man.

So here goes….

#nextTake12

What have been you’re favourite’s from Next?  Are you a night shopper like me?  let me know.

PS can you spot a cheeky 13th Gift idea?? xoxo
